Hi! I’m Madi!

Welcome to Namit Eats! This is where I use every inch of my tiny New York City apartment kitchen to recreate recipes I love especially ones from home.  I am originally from Bacolod, a small city in the Philippines famous for being the City of Smiles and for their amazing grilled chicken (chicken insasal). “Namit” is “yummy” in my native tongue (Ilonggo) and I’m excited to share a piece of me with you!

I created this website as a passion and defiance project of sorts. My mom and I shared a love of food and a love of rhapsodizing about food. She was a great cook and over the years she has shared her knowledge with me. Unfortunately, as luck would have it, she got sick and towards the end of her life, she wanted to say her goodbyes to our family in the Philippines. It was while we were scrambling and packing that she decides to share one of her best recipes with me.  I haven’t yet found the courage to cook it, but I’m hoping through this blog, I will have no choice but to do so. If you find a recipe for Adobong Pusit, you’ll know I succeeded. I hope I can make it as good as she does.

Through this blog, I hope to honor her legacy and create a resource for sharing recipes with loved ones.

In the meantime, let’s get cooking and have some Namit Eats!
